If you’ve ever had the gift of enjoying a spa treatment, we’re sure you can agree that there’s nothing quite as rejuvenating as pampering your body, relaxing your mind, and spending some time in quiet contemplation.
At Thornybush, we pride ourselves on offering this experience amongst the beautiful backdrop of the South African bush. However, things aren’t quite as they should be right now, amidst the Covid-19 crisis.
The words ‘face mask’ have taken a whole new meaning over the last few months, with most of us social distancing and self-isolating, our entire lives highly sanitised and faces covered. This language was unfamiliar to us just a few months ago, now it seems as if this is the new normal.
Many of you have had to postpone your trips and adventures, but we do not want you to miss out entirely on some of the activities you can experience at destinations. Wellness and self-care are a big part of the Thornybush experience, from a circulatory massage on arrival to ease your travel symptoms, to freshly prepared juices, and bush walks to keep you mobile.
We have put together a simple DIY spa experience, made from ingredients you can find in your kitchen, so that you can enjoy that spa vibe in the comfort of your own space.
Whisk everything together in a bowl to form a honey fragranced mask, apply with a clean facial brush or your fingers, and leave on the skin for 10 – 20 minutes.
Eggs are great for masks as they assist in improving skin texture for all skin types. Yolks are essential in fatty acids which add moisture to the skin, while the whites contain a simple form of protein that tightens the pores and helps remove excess oil.
Rinse off with cool water and enjoy skin that feels hydrated, taught and refreshed.
We look forward to spoiling you with treats like this when you are able to visit us again.
Thank to Kelly Sage, Beauty, Health & Nutrition Coach at Africology, Hoedspruit for this great face mask recipe. We can’t wait to give it a try!
