Meet The Team: Glory Mnisi

Glory Mnisi enriches the lives of all the guests she looks after at Simbambili Game Lodge, but also the lives of all the staff whom she works with. Her charm, beautiful smile and deep desire to continue to grow and learn is a real inspiration for everyone who is fortunate enough to spend time with her.

From the Start…

Glory arrived in the Sabi Sands Game Reserve in 2001 as an intern, – A  young lady who knew nothing about the safari tourism industry, but was filled with enthusiasm and wanting. Her hunger to learn and ability to quickly take on the roles she was being taught led to an offer for a permanent position in 2002.

She worked closely with Tania Cowden, the manager at the time, moving between departments and slowly climbing the internal ladder. Starting in the scullery, Glory then moved into the laundry, and followed the natural progression onto housekeeping;even becoming the head of department after a while. Today, she is one of our dearly loved butlers, – attentively caring for the needs of her guests, making them feel valued and appreciated.

A Talented Leader

When Glory sings, everyone stops, for she has the voice of an angel! She has a real passion for singing and dancing and happily leads the Simbambili choir whenever they perform for the guests under the stars. Her exuberance and rhythmical talent make these events really special to witness.

Her leadership skills are also found in other aspects of her life. As a single mother she has raised a wonderful son, who is educated and independent; and must be really inspired by Glory, as he is following in her footsteps and embarking upon further studies in Tourism.

The infectious enthusiasm Glory exudes, reaches beyond her immediate family – for her colleagues, Glory represents the opportunity to grow further and become more; Glory is the embodiment of “hard work pays off”.

Fulfilling her Dreams

Glory loves working as a butler – it allows her to engage with people from all over the world, which has grown her confidence and command of the English language.

Even though her work duties keep her extremely busy she has enrolled for further training in the hospitality sector which she does in her spare time. Her hope is to not only enrich her current skills, but she would love to ultimately end up working in reception, and if her track record is anything to go by we think this is almost a given.

Glory is an invaluable member of the Simbambili team and we will continue to support her while she reaches for the stars!
