It is time for revival. We are getting ready to open our doors, to welcome back our guests, to share our wildlife areas and create incredible, memorable experiences for everyone. After all, this is what we do best. Safari is all about allowing people the opportunity to take a moment to escape reality, to relax in the beauty of nature and reawaken their soul.
Although international travel remains closed for now, soon we will be opening our arms to all our South African travellers and sharing the magical allure of Thornybush with them.
After months of being locked down, now, more than ever, people need to be re-vitalised and allowed the pleasure of being able to travel and visit natural wilderness areas. It has been tough, and everyone deserves a break, a chance to sit back, breath in clean air, enjoy small indulgences, all the while rebooting their systems and healing.
The anticipation of re-opening does not only bring joy to those of you who can finally visit us again, but more than anyone it fills the Thornybush team with immeasurable pleasure. After months at home for most of our staff, in order to stay safe, they too are thrilled at the prospect of coming back to work.
For everyone in the safari business it is in our blood to look after and nurture guests, to thrill and entice them, to feed and educate everyone that visits. The guides and trackers want to take you on game drives and show you all the wonders of the Greater Kruger National Park, the waiters and chefs want to surprise you with incredible meals, housekeepers want to make your rooms as comfortable as possible and the rest of us want to create magical memories from the moment you arrive to the time you leave, making you want to come back for more.
Thornybush will be reopening Saseka, Simbambili, River Lodge and Thornybush Game Lodge with unbelievable reopening rates. You can purchase prepaid vouchers starting from R3999 pppn which will be valid until 30 June 2021 (Peak season exclusions). Although we will be reviving our lodges soon, we do realise that not everyone is able to travel yet, and so it will not be business as normal. We will be following a number of stringent health and safety protocols set out by the World Health Organisation. The effects of COVID still lie heavily across the planet, for us, most obviously with our local communities. So many families who were already surviving on the bare minimum are in a worse situation than ever.
Many businesses have been forced to shut down, people have lost their jobs and livelihoods lost. Thornybush continues to support those who are in the most vulnerable positions, families who are battling to keep themselves fed and short of basic needs. Our Family Food Vouchers have seen an unbelievable number of people generously donating and supporting, we thank you from the bottom of our hearts for this, you have made a difference in a number of peoples lives.
Through this fundraiser we have managed to provide basic food items to many of those who are in desperate need, we will continue with these food hampers for as long as possible. We are appealing for any help we can get to secure the basic food items for members of our community, please assist by donating and/or sharing this initiative with your family and friends. We are aware of the immense challenges we have all had to face over the past three months, and we remain mindful of the many obstacles still lying ahead. We are committed to our staff, as well as our guests, your and their health and safety comes first. Everyone is navigating uncharted waters and we’ve had to become dynamic and flexible in order to survive. We remain deeply committed to our past guests, future visitors, travel partners and team, you are all top of our mind every step of the way.
