In a nutshell

In collaboration with our Head Chef you will ensure our guests receive a world class culinary experience. You will be the most senior person in our central pastry kitchen. You will be required to deliver pastries for both our high-end lodges and tented camps across the Thornybush Nature Reserve and Sabi Sands.

What you will be doing

As a team member of the central pastry kitchen, you will be instrumental in creating magic in our kitchen. You will work with our Head Chef and Executive Chef to ensure that the pastry offering compliments our food journey. You will have 2 junior team members who will work in your team and learn from your wealth of experience.
  • Continually developing and creating a unique pastry offering for our lodges.
  • Continually find ways for our pastries to enhance our food experience.
  • Creatively being able to adapt menus to guest’s food allergies and dietary requirements.
  • Committed to the development and training of the team.
  • Maintain and grow positive professional relationships between the teams.
  • Maintaining the highest kitchen and hygiene standards & practices.
  • Doing monthly stock takes and variances including rotating of stock and ensuring minimal wastage.
  • Understanding and sharing food trends and inspirations.
  • From time-to-time you may be required to assist in our kitchen (hot and cold)

  • A minimum of 4 years experience in a pastry kitchen

Requirements

  • Culinary degree with pastry specialisation
  • No less than 4 years in a highend environment
  • Intermediate computer skills
  • Drivers Licence (to your advantage)

Position Details

Contract type: Permanent Sites:  SASEKA Work cycle:  6 weeks on : 2 weeks off Remuneration: Cash + 50% contribution to medical aid (Discovery) + 7,5% contribution to provident (Old Mutual). Accommodation on site.
