Early Childhood Development at Wisani Day Care to the highschool excellence of Manyangana High, we provide the tools for success. We don’t just educate; we employ. Our bursary graduates from the South African College for Tourism (SACT) and Tracker Academy often return to join the Thornybush family as professional guides and chefs.
We believe in “Trade, not Aid.” We support local entrepreneurs like the all-women Thousand Herbs and Vegetable Garden and the Magoveni Beehives. These aren’t just projects, they are our suppliers. The fresh produce and organic honey you enjoy at our lodges come directly from these community-run businesses.
Protecting the rhino starts with the heart. Through programmes like Kids in Conservation (KIC) and Gogos in Conservation, we bridge the gap between people and wildlife, fostering a culture of stewardship that ensures the bushveld remains a shared heritage for generations.
Through our Skills Development programmes, we equip unemployed youth with practical qualifications and hands-on experience that open doors to employment and self-employment. From chef training to driver’s licence support, we are helping local youth gain the skills, confidence and experience needed to build sustainable livelihoods and become active participants in the economy.
Whether you have an hour or a few days, you can connect with the people and projects that are shaping this landscape.
Every contribution makes a meaningful difference. The donation amounts below are examples of the impact your generosity can have, but you’re welcome to give any amount that feels right to you. Your support helps create lasting opportunities for education, conservation, and community development.
As General Manager of Thornybush Community, Busisiwe Chauke works closely with our neighbouring communities to help turn local priorities into meaningful projects.
During your stay, look out for the Community Champion badges worn by members of our lodge teams. These ambassadors can tell you more about their communities and the projects they are helping to move forward.
